What we check on every container

We are your eyes and ears on the ground in the country of destination of your shipment. Our supervisor will be present at the location prior to unstuffing of the cargo and take photographic evidence and report through our in-house mobile app.

All recorded data is instantly uploaded and consolidated into a comprehensive inspection report. Once the full shipment has been discharged and reviewed, you will receive a notification that the reports are ready to be downloaded through our client portal.

We represent you and report to you the actual situation on the ground for a variety of containerized cargo.

Container and seal

The container and seal number are validated against the data from the uploaded BL. Any discrepancies will be instantly recorded and reported. Any damage to the container is photographed and registered in the individual container report.

Count against the manifest

We tally what is landed and set it against the data in the Bill of Lading.

Net landed against net BL weight

Gross, tare and net weights from the weighing tickets are scanned and recorded. The under- or overweight is worked out from the recorded figures and shown against the applied franchise. Results are directly made available in the client portal for each shipment, ready to be followed up on.

Variations on record

When something does not match, we record the difference with a remark and a photograph. Nothing is adjusted to make the record agree.

Damage on record

Damage to the cargo or the container is recorded per container, described and photographed, and reaches you as a notice right away. If an insurer has to be involved, you can reach us directly.

Supervision report

The summary report of the whole shipment provides a comprehensive overview of the inspection results. Any issues are highlighted in the report.

The individual container supervision report provides the detailed findings for each container in the BL. The report includes the photographs, seal, count, weight and any damage.

Singo Trading issues the reports when all weights have been reconciled and counter checked.

Quality report

During the inspection, samples are taken from the cargo during unstuffing. The samples are dispatched to a certified third-party laboratory. The laboratory issues the quality report as soon as the samples have been analysed. It is delivered exactly as issued and can be downloaded from the dashboard.

Sealed samples are kept in cotton bags for three months and are available to be sent for further follow-up.

The record behind the report is append-only: a retaken photograph or a correction is kept as a new entry.

Follow every shipment from arrival to report

Questions

What does a Singo Trading container inspection record and report?

Container number, seal, count, weight and photographs for every container, set against your Bill of Lading. Any damage to the cargo or the container is recorded. We record differences as they are found and do not adjust them.

When is the report issued?

The supervision report is issued when all weights have been reconciled and counter checked. The quality report follows as soon as the samples have been analysed.

What happens if the cargo is damaged?

Damage is recorded per container, by kind and with photographs, and reaches you as a notice right away. If it is serious, you can reach us directly to escalate with your insurer if required.

Does the inspection include quality?

The quality report is issued by a certified third-party laboratory as soon as the samples have been analysed. The report is made available in your dashboard. Our platform stores and delivers it; it does not assess the result.

Can I follow my shipment?

Yes. In your dashboard you see every bill of lading uploaded for your company. For each shipment you can see where it stands and when the next step in the inspection process is expected, what was found, how it landed against the franchise, and every document to download. The photographs for each container are in its individual container report.

Who in my company can use the dashboard?

We open your company's account and invite you by email. You can invite additional colleagues. Only the persons you have authorised can access the reports. You see your company's shipments and nobody else does.

Who carries out the inspection?

Inspections are carried out by our local partner, with experienced teams on the ground in each location.

Where do you inspect?

Currently we provide inspections in Batam, Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya. Other locations on demand.

What does it cost?

Contact us to discuss your cargo and how often you ship, and we'll get back to you by email.

What does a cargo inspector check when a container arrives at the warehouse?

A cargo inspector records:

  1. The container number, checked and validated against the BL and the trailer plate.
  2. The seal, recorded as expected and as observed, with its condition: intact, broken or absent.
  3. Six photographs of each container, each with its time and place.
  4. The units landed, counted against the Bill of Lading.
  5. The tare weight of the packaging as recorded from the BL.
  6. The tare weight from the container dressing.
  7. Sweepings.
  8. The gross and net weight from the weighing ticket.
  9. Damage to the cargo and/or the container.
How is net landed weight compared with the Bill of Lading?

The gross weight is read from the weighing ticket and the tare is taken off, which gives the net landed weight. This is set against the net weight on the Bill of Lading, and the difference is shown in kilograms and as a percentage.

What happens if the seal number does not match the Bill of Lading?

Both numbers are kept, the one on the Bill of Lading and the one observed, with the photograph of the seal. The difference is recorded as a seal discrepancy in the reports.
